About Garh Govind

Garh Govind is one of Rajasthan's most renowned resorts, known for delivering excellence in the hospitality industry since its inception in 2008. It is recognised as one of the first properties in India to extensively incorporate red sandstone sourced from the mines on the outskirts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This sustainable choice of building material not only reflected an environmentally conscious approach but also celebrated the craftsmanship of local artisans, who have been transforming stone into mesmerising works of art for centuries. The resort's architecture draws inspiration from the Rajputana era, blending the design elements of temples, palaces, forts, bawris, and havelis with Indian, Persian, and Mughal architectural influences.

The land on which Garh Govind stands today was once agricultural farmland, adorned with flourishing orchards, plantations, evergreen trees, shrubs, and fruit-bearing varieties, including hybrid plants developed by the Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI). These plantations produced abundant harvests while promoting environmentally sustainable farming practices.

In 1975, the land was purchased by Dr Govind Singh Rathore, a retired professor and philanthropist who dedicated his life to shaping the future through education, social welfare, and the establishment of Western Rajasthan's first residential all-girls school to promote girls' education. Guided by his visionary outlook, he aspired to transform the land into one of Rajasthan's finest agricultural farms and a pioneer in agricultural production.

Our founders, Dr Mahipal Singh Rathore and Dr Jaipal Singh Rathore, inherited their father's passion for academics and agriculture from an early age. Both excelled academically, sharing a deep interest in Hindi as their chosen field of research. While Dr Mahipal Singh Rathore continued his academic journey, Dr Jaipal Singh Rathore chose a different path, stepping into the hospitality industry by transforming the family land into what is now known as Hotel Garh Govind.

His vision became a reality in 2008 with the launch of one of India's premier destination wedding resorts. The property initially featured a landscaped lawn and a single wing with 24 rooms. Over the years, Garh Govind expanded steadily, adding a new wing with 26 rooms and a magnificent lawn that further enhanced its grandeur. Despite facing numerous challenges, the founders remained steadfast in their commitment to growth and excellence. In 2023, they expanded their hospitality portfolio with the launch of Hari Kunj Resort, adding yet another milestone to their remarkable journey.

Beyond its reputation as a destination wedding venue, Garh Govind has also hosted the celebrated Rajasthani language festival, Anjas Mahotsav, one of the most sought-after cultural festivals with global recognition. The inspiring story of Garh Govind and its founders continues to resonate with people around the world, standing as a testament to vision, perseverance, and a commitment to preserving Rajasthan's rich heritage.
